Since the middle and end of the 20th century, major foreign manufacturers of low-voltage electrical appliances have launched a new generation of universal circuit breakers one after another.  Since 2002, China has put forward the idea of developing a new generation of low-voltage electrical appliances.

Low Voltage Electrical Appliance Online: Since 2002, the Shanghai Electric Power Research Institute has started the research and development of a new generation of universal circuit breakers in China.

 He Ruihua: From 2004 to 2006, we spent 2 years doing preliminary research. The real product development started from 2006 to 2010, and the sample trial production was basically completed in 2009. The two years of preliminary research mainly did the following four aspects.

I. Collecting background information on the new generation of universal circuit breakers from abroad, including product performance, structure, features, prototypes and samples, and conducting tests on the new generation of foreign products.

ii. collecting and analysing foreign patents for the new generation of universal circuit breakers, focusing on the main protection points of the patents.

Third, it is for the new generation of products "portrait", to determine the goals and requirements of product development. The performance and indicators of our third generation products are already quite high and can meet the needs of power distribution systems. The fourth generation of products must be a comprehensive and obvious breakthrough on the basis of the third generation of products.

Fourthly, in order to achieve the objectives and requirements of this product, a specific implementation plan needs to be developed and fully justified.

After completing the above four aspects, we selected Tianjin Baili and Changshu Switchgear Factory, two excellent domestic manufacturers of universal circuit breakers, to jointly develop and trial the new generation of universal circuit breakers. It took four years, based on the original full investigation, to overcome a series of technical points using modern design techniques and testing technology, to carry out sample trials, and the sample testing results met the set objectives and requirements.
